예술가의 런치박스 : 얄루 작가

5회차. 한정기획! 생일정원 익스트림 힐링 테라피: 얄루

얄루의 작업에서 등장하는 한국 대중문화 요소 중 K-뷰티를 마스크팩 묵사발로 구현해 런치박스 테이블로 옮겨왔습니다. 피부 타입을 세 가지 종류의 묵마스크팩과 피부 고민은 식재료로 구성하여 검정깨-주근깨, 화이트헤드-통깨, 렌틸콩-고름, 김치-여드름, 김-기미잡티, 꼬시래기-주름, 기름번들거림-참기름, 땀-냉면육로 치환하여 식재료 하나하나에 의미를 담아 문제성 피부를 개선하는 과정을 참여자분들이 구성해 보실 수 있도록 준비했습니다. 그리고 물 위에 둥둥 떠다니는 해초 묵 마스크팩을 얄루의 인공 정원 위에 띄워 춤추는 미역 요정을 위한 근사한 생일상을 차렸습니다.

이번 런치박스 프로그램에서는 마벨메종이 추구하는 예술과 요리의 경계를 넘어 아트푸드라는 새로운 체험형 식문화의 장르를 통해 예술가와 대중이 함께 경험할 수 있는 장을 만들고 알릴수 있는 기회가 된 것 같아 더욱 의미있었습니다. 마벨메종은 ‘예술이 가진 아우라’와 ‘식문화’를 더한 복합문화체험을 통해 기업과 대중을 잇는 콘텐츠를 연구하고 생산하며 최적의 균형을 갖춘 비즈니스를 제시합니다.

참여자들 자신의 ‘미’에 대해 기원하며 힐링 테라피를 즐길 수 있는 즐거운 축제의 날이었습니다. 얄루는 우리가 자라면서 경험한 제례의식, 민속문화, 한국 대중 문화(K-pop, K-beauty, K-drama) 요소를 이번 ‘미’의 생일 정원에 적극 끌어왔습니다. 초현실적인 생일상, 시트 마스크, 춤추는 미역 요정이 담긴 괄사 캡슐 등 미래의 고고학 유적지인 생일 정원에서 우리는 아름다움의 본질을 발굴하였습니다. 콜라겐 같은 묵으로 만든 마스크팩과 함께 일상의 피부 케어 루틴을 마치며, 시원한 묵사발을 즐길 수 있었던 런치박스였습니다.

On July 28th, Yaloo's artist's lunchbox, , was held at the Seoul City Art Archive.

It was a joyful festival day where participants could enjoy healing therapy while wishing for their own 'beauty'. Yalu actively incorporated elements of ritual ceremonies, folklore, and Korean pop culture (K-pop, K-beauty, K-drama) that we have experienced growing up into this 'beauty' birthday garden. In the future archaeological site of the birthday garden, we discovered the essence of beauty, including surrealistic birthday scenes, sheet masks, and dancing seaweed fairies. It was a lunchbox where we could enjoy refreshing seaweed soup along with a collagen mask made from the same seaweed, completing our daily skincare routine.

Yaloo explores the meaning and role of images based on multicultural experiences and attitudes. In particular, she creates unique sensory experiences that maximize familiarity by utilizing various archive fragments found in Korean folklore and popular culture. She is interested in stories that connect the present to the past, such as customs, rituals, and cultural heritage consumed as tourism resources. Yalu's works, composed as one storytelling, expand the artist's unique language and worldview and are expressed through various media such as projection mapping, VR, digital animation, and more.
