지속가능한 환경을 꿈꾸는 모두를 연결하는 공공 휴식형 쉘터

바래가 상상하는 새로운 시대의 쉘터는 다양한 변화에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있는 움직임이 있는 공간이자 장소로, 자유로운 이동과 함께 스스로 구축되고 에너지를 생산한다. 에어 오브 블룸은 가까운 미래 도심 속 공공공간에서의 휴식이 필요한 때에 나타나고 이동하는 쉘터이다. 에어 오브 블룸은 지속적으로 이동하는 모듈형 로봇 유닛 에어리Air(e)들의 조합으로, 낮 동안에 태양을 따라 움직이며 작동에 필요한 에너지를 태양전지 패널을 통해 축적한다. 또한 접근하는 사람의 수를 파악하여 필요한 만큼 서로 결합되어 적합한 크기의 벤치나 휴식 장소를 만들고, 다양한 미디어 장치와 연결되며 일시적으로 인공 환경을 조성한다. 가상의 디지털 자연과 현실의 도시가 어우러져 만들어 내는 에어 오브 블룸은 쉘터에 머무르는 이들이 향유할 수 있는 공동체적 경험을 새롭게 디자인한다. 더불어 사물-사람-자연의 공존을 추구함으로써 공동체 사이를 적극적으로 연결하는 공간을 지향하는 데 중점을 둔다. 한 곳에 방치되지 않고, 필요한 곳을 찾아 이동해 사람과 반응하며 살아있는 유기체처럼 움직이는 새로운 쉘터의 디자인이다. 매번 새롭게 생산하고 쉽게 폐기하는 물건이나 인공구조물과는 다르게, 소비의 사회를 넘어 탄소배출을 줄이는 지속가능한 환경 구축의 가능성을 열어준다.

BARE imagines a shelter for the new era. It is a space and place equipped with mobility, allowing for active response to various changes, and also a system capable of self-establishment and energy generation. Building upon such ideas, BARE suggests Air of Blooms, as a shelter intended to serve as public resting stations in near future cities. Air of Blooms consists of constantly moving modular robot units called Air(e), and follows the sun during the daytime to charge energy through its solar panels. The units assemble themselves into an optimal configuration of seats and resting spaces, all based on an automatic assessment of the number of users approaching the structure. Air of Blooms also allows for connection with various types of media devices, thereby creating a temporary artificial environment. Combining virtual and digital nature with real-world urban elements, Air of Blooms designs a new community experience for those staying in the shelter. Furthermore, the work seeks to create a space that connects diverse communities by pursuing the coexistence of things, humans, and nature. It is the design of a new shelter that is not fixed in one place but moves in search of necessary places, reacts with humans, and moves like a living organism. Unlike new and easily discarded items or artificial structures, this shelter opens the possibility of building a sustainable environment that reduces carbon emissions beyond the society of consumption.
